Firstly, as a GP, it is crucial to explore the biopsychosocial model of health. One must realise that biological, psychological and social factors all contribute to a person’s overall health. The social dimension cannot be ignored in Anne’s case. According to the World Health Organisation, the social determinants of health are ‘the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age.’ (World Health Organisation. 2013) From the information provided, one could suggest that various social factors have contributed to Anne’s obesity. Anne grew up in a deprived area of the inner city. Growing up in a deprived area does not directly cause obesity, however, social determinants are known as causes of the causes of ill health. (WMA. 2011)†¦show more content†¦It is important to recognise that Anne cannot control all of the factors that may be negatively impacting on her health. She is living in a local authority housing estate in a disadvan taged area of the inner city and given that ‘the highest rates of obesity occur among population groups with the highest poverty rates and the least education’ (Adam Drewnowski and SE Specter 2013) one could claim that relocating would be a possible solution. Clearly this would be an unrealistic plan. So too would the notion of buying gym membership for 3 people. So as her GP, I would encourage her to keep a food diary for a week so I could see the amount of calories the family consumed and see their eating habits, to go for a walk every evening with her children and give her brochures with easy recipes for healthy meals. Anne also needs to be made aware of complications associated with childhood obesity. Having excess weight makes both adults and children susceptible to heart disease, type 2 diabetes and many other conditions. What is significant about children is that obesity can be the cause of social exclusion, depression and the need for life long medical treatment. (Lobstein, T., Baur, L. Uauy, R. 2004) There are many factors in this case that would have an effect, either directly or indirectly, on Anne, John and Mary’s lifespans. Rocket Boys Essay Rocket Boys, an exciting memoir of a group of boys who are interested in rocketry, was written by Homer Hickam Jr. This autobiographical book tells about Homers adventures with his rocketry friends. While Homer is launching these rockets, he deals with such problems as school, friends, and his dysfunctional family. His father, the superintendent of the local coalmine, disapproves of his building of rockets, and wants him to become a miner. His mother, on the other hand, is urging on Homer because she knows that the mine is dangerous and can kill her son. Even with so much going on around him, Homer and the rocket boys keep building and shooting off rockets. This story took place in Coalwood, a mining town in the West Virginian mountains, and in the surrounding towns. This story occurred around 1957 to 1961 and covered Homers entire high school years. There were some very important events in this book. The first event took place in 1957 when the awestruck Homer watched as the Russian satellite Sputnik drifted over Coalwood as it made its legendary orbit around the earth. This inspired Homer to start building and launching rockets. The second important event in this book came about when a rocket that was launched by the boys actually flew. So far, all of their rockets had just been duds. Their happiness was muffled though, when they learned that the rocket had struck one of the mines many factories. Homers father was outraged and forebade him to launch any more rockets on company property, which consisted of about everything within a two-mile radius of the town. Another important event was when Homer won the national science fair. This wa s the final ingredient needed for the rocket boys to be accepted by the town. Unfortunately, it took all of their high school years to achieve this. The final important event in this story transpired when Homers father, who had objected to his launching of rockets, launched the last rocket the rocket boys made before they went to college. This was the farthest rocket they ever launched, and Homers father apologized for the way he had acted and told Homer to go out and chase his dream. The most exciting part of this book was when Homer went to the national science fair. It was extremely suspenseful, and I wasnt sure if Homer was going to win the fair. If this book were a fiction book, it would be easy to guess that Homer would win the fair, but because this was a biography, it was not so predictable. Homer is an important person because he is living proof that if you try hard enough, you can achieve your goal. He also contributed to the NASA space program and is still working with NA SA today. From reading this book I learned not only factual things such as how to calculate how high a rocket travels or the proper way to mix an explosive, but also how to deal with any family problems and what a friendship means. These things are important to know throughout your life. The author definitely had a purpose in writing this book, and that was to teach the reader, whether young or old, these valuable lessons. Of all the facts given in this book, I would not disagree with any of them, because the person writing this book is an expert. I could not find anything even remotely wrong with his writing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, because it is about something I can relate to. I am interested in rocketry, and build my own rockets. I would recommend this book to anyone with a goal, because it sends the message that if you try hard you can accomplish it. The reading level in this book is difficult, but at the same time, any hard vocabulary is explained at a later time. All in all, this was a fantastic book

Now, Ill tell you aboutthe advantages and disadvantages of cell phones. Because we are Medical Faculty students, so Illtell the advantages of cell phones that related to health. Do you know that cell phone can help us totake care our healthy? Ya, cell phone can do it. We can communicate with a nutrition advisor orsearching about healthy life style with cell phone. I have an experience about it. Yesterday, I was sick,and with cell phone I can call my sister, so she can bought me some medicines. And everyday, mymom always remembering me to drink my medicine, so I can be health again like now. Beside theadvantages, cell phones also has disadvantages. Related to health, cell phones can make eye strainbecause of lack of sleep. Cell phone also can disturb mental health, for example someone can bebullying through cell phone texting and that can make mental be down. The last thing I wanna tell to all of you is the effect of cell phone for us as university student. Im surethat everyone in here have your own cell phone, right? Im also sure that your cell phone give someeffects that change your behavior. One of that effect is dishonesty. Center on Media and ChildHealth in 2007states that The Pew Internet American Life Project found that 39% of cell usersages 18-29 say they are not always truthful about where they are when they are on the phone. Iagree with that statement because sometimes I do that too, especially if I am on the phone withsomeone who I hate. Ill lie to her/him because I hate them. Yeah something like that. But rememberone important thing : Dont ever lie to your parent! Maybe next time all of you will find and feel theother effect from cell phone by your self. Now, I wanna end my speech here.
